Two-year Study Programme for Students with Intellectual Disabilities

Launched in 2015, the two-year study programme aims to give students the opportunity to develop their talents in a professional learning environment. The programme complies with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which specifies the importance of people having the opportunity to grow, use and enjoy their talents and the right to study at all school levels. The programme 's structure is based on the school's one year foundation course and is adapted to the needs and abilities of students with intellectual disabilities.

The programme consists of 20 credits over 4 semesters with classes taking place two mornings every school week. Students should have completed their secondary education or the equivalent. The programme is defined as Level 1 according to Icelandic qualification framework. At it's completion the student is awarded a diploma in art.
