The initial purpose of the Reykjavík School of Visual Arts was to promote an awareness of the value of arts and culture by operating an art studio for people of all ages. That purpose is still a primary principle. The school aims to be at the forefront of art education at primary and secondary level by offering excellent education in art and related subjects to students at these school levels. It provides primary and secondary teachers with continuing educational opportunities and access to projects and teaching materials. Furthermore, the goal of the school is to disseminate knowledge and technical skills in specialized areas of art and design.
The Reykjavík School of Visual Arts is focused on developing creative and independent thinking, professionalism and courage and an enhancement of the students’ awareness of their responsibility for their own education and future.
