The Directorate of Education has granted the Reykjavík School of Visual Arts accreditation as a private secondary school at upper secondary level with permission to carry out instruction with completion at 3rd and 4th competence levels (4th and 5th levels according to the European Qualification Framework of Education).

Emphasis is placed on making student progression agreements with universities abroad in order to encourage students to look for possible further studies in their field.
