This series of oil paintings focus on the classic subject of landscape as well as digging into memory and intuition.
Questioning the concepts of perception, awareness, identity, and intuition are at the core of my practice. What makes us humans? What connects us? How aware are we of our own being? I experiment with how contemporary art can be used to trigger these questions or attempt to offer answers.
Faulty, unclear, disturbing, or lost.
We do not remember, we re-write memories just like history is rewritten.
Found surfaces, such as industrial plywood reveal defaults and marks, from the past life of the material. Like a childhood memory that is part of who you are or like an old scar that reminds you of a past experience.
Material and texture play an important part in my work and creative process, they become the main element of interpretation.
Applying many layers of paint creates depth; even if some of the former layers end up covered they can still be felt, in a similar way intuition is felt but not something you can see.
