Markmið námskeiðsins er að ná færni og þekkingu á miðlinum. Nemendur læra undirstöðuatriði í svarthvítri filmuljósmyndun; hvernig ljósop og hraði virka, framköllun filmu og stækkun ljósmynda í myrkvaherbergi. Inn í kennsluna eru fléttuð dæmi og fróðleikur úr ljósmyndasögunni eftir því sem við á. Nemendur koma með eigin myndavél og geta keypt filmu af skólanum.

Kennslan fer fram á ensku, en kennarinn skilur nokkuð í íslensku.

Námskeiðið er 6 vikur.

The goal of the course is to acquire skills and knowledge of the medium. Students learn the basic principles of black-and-white film photography; how aperture and shutter speed work, film development, and printing photographs in the darkroom. Examples from the history of photography are integrated into the teaching where applicable. Students bring their own camera and can buy the film from the school.

Lessons and instructions are communicated in English, but the teacher understands some Icelandic.

The course is held once a week for six weeks.
