Stutt og hnitmiðað námskeið þar sem farið verður yfir helstu þætti jurtalitunar á textíl. Farið verður yfir hvernig nemendur sækja sér jurtir til litunar, undirbúa litunarböð úr bæði íslenskum og erlendum jurtum, skolun og frágang. Íblöndunarefni verða einnig kynnt til leiks. Textílnum er leyft að liggja í litunarböðunum yfir helgi til að fá sem mestan árangur. Nemendur kynnast einnig litunartæknunum Shibori og ecoprint. Notaðar verða jurtir á borð við lúpínu, vallhumal og rósir. Nemendur geta einnig komið með eigin jurtir og gert tilraunir.

The main aspects of dyeing fabrics with natural plant-based colours are highlighted during the three-day course. Lessons include showing students methods to collect herbs for dyeing and prepare dye baths from Icelandic and imported vegetation ‒ from rinsing to finishing. The process also comprises the use of additives in the dyes. Students will prepare the herb baths for the first two classes and dip their fabrics into them. We seek to get the best results by giving ample time for the materials to bathe in the dyes over the weekend. Students also get to learn the dyeing techniques of Shibori and eco print. We plan to use fruits or flowers such as yarrow, lupina leaves and wild rose. Students can also bring and experiment with plants of their choice.
