Application

We are now accepting applications for full time studies 2020-2021.

All applicants for full time studies must fill out an application form.

Foreign applicants that don't have an Icelandic ID number, please contact us via mir@mir.is for a different application form.

If applying for the two-year courses in ceramics, fine art, illustration or textiles you'll need to upload a portfolio in PDF- format with your application. Also include a separate PDF-file with scanned examples from sketchbook (minimum 10 pages).

Maximum file size: 350 MB

If applying for the foundation studies an entrance examination is a part of the application process.

Non-Icelandic applicants are advised to read the school's language policy.

Non-European applicants are responsible for acquiring their visa/residency permits.

Important dates

Application deadline for foundation studies is May 20th, 17:00 GMT. Entrance examination will take place on the 26th of May.

Application deadline for diploma programmes is May 27th, 17:00 GMT.

Requirements

For the two-year foundation programme applicants should have completed one year of upper secondary school with 30 specified credits and 30 credits of electives.

For the one-year foundation programme applicants have to have completed matriculation examination.

For the two-year diploma programmes applicants should have completed secondary level education with visual art as a core subject or have other comparable education or experiential credentials.

Tuition fees in school year 2020-2021

Tuition fee for the two-year diploma courses in Ceramics, Illustration, Fine Art and Textiles is 440.000 ISK.

Tuition fee for the Visual Art two-year programme towards matriculation is 210.000 ISK.

Tuition fee for the Visual Art one-year foundation programme is 330.000 ISK.

Tuition fee for the one-year study programme for students with intellectual disabilities is 160.000 ISK.

Please note: Tuition fee is the same for both Icelandic and international students.
