We are now accepting applications for full time studies for 2021-2022.

Applications are open for the following courses:

  • Visual Arts - two-year programme towards matriculation
  • Visual Arts - one-year foundation programme
  • Visual Arts - one-year study programme for students with intellectual disabilities

Two-year courses in Ceramics, Drawing, Fine Art and Textiles are open for enrollment every other year. Next call for applications will be in the spring of 2022.

How to apply

The deadline for applications is on midnight 24th of May.

Foreign applicants that don't have an Icelandic ID number, please contact us via mir@mir.is for a different application form.

Non-Icelandic applicants are advised to read the school's language policy. Also note, non-European applicants are responsible for acquiring their visa/residency permits.

Requirements

  • For the two-year foundation programme applicants should have completed one year of upper secondary school with 30 specified credits and 30 credits of electives. Applicants also have to sucessfully sit through an entrance examination.
  • For the one-year foundation programme applicants have to have completed matriculation exam. Applicants also have to sucessfully sit through an entrance examination.
  • For the two-year programmes in ceramics, drawing, painting and textiles, applicants should have completed secondary level education with visual art as a core subject or have other comparable education or experiential credentials. Applicants then need to submit a portfolio with their application. Admission interviews are also a part of the application process.

Important dates

Application deadline is May 24th, midnight.

Selected applicants are invited to the foundation studies entrance examination that will take place on the 26th of May.

Tuition fees in school year 2020-2021

Tuition fee for the two-year diploma courses in Ceramics, Illustration, Fine Art and Textiles is 460.000 ISK.

Tuition fee for the Visual Art two-year programme towards matriculation is 216.000 ISK.

Tuition fee for the Visual Art one-year foundation programme is 350.000 ISK.

Tuition fee for the one-year study programme for students with intellectual disabilities is 164.000 ISK.

Please note: Tuition fee is the same for both Icelandic and international students.

All applicants must also pay an application fee of 11.000 ISK.
